SBP made progress in meeting the standards for total fat in elementary schools and for saturated fat in both elementary and secondary schools.

o        75% to 88% compliance for total fat standards in elementary schools

o        54% to 71% compliance for saturated fat standards in all schools

Kids who eat cereal as part of the school breakfast program have better nutrient intakes¹:

o       Significantly more calcium, folate, iron, niacin, riboflavin, thiamin, zinc, and vitamins A, B6, and E.

o       Significantly less total fat, saturated fat, and sodium.

o       No significant difference in sugar or calorie intake.
Headline: “Cereal for Breakfast: Start a Healthy Habit”

Kids who eat cereal as part of the school breakfast program have healthier body weights than kids who don’t eat cereal.
