RD Coaching: Making Big Strides with Small Steps
“I only eat half the bag of chips now, and save the rest for later,” is just one of many small steps Kansas City tweens are taking thanks to RD Coaching.You will not find a definition of RD Coaching in Wikipedia, but it can be described as being a mini-counseling session with individuals or small groups of students that is interactive and FUN, and…performed during PE class while the students are being physically active! In 2007, the American Dietetic Association Foundation (ADAF) and an amazing group of professionals ready to think “outside the box” formed a coalition to design the blueprint for RD Nutrition Coaches in schools. Partnering with the successful PE4Life program with headquarters in Kansas City, the Healthy Schools Partnership (HSP) was born!

New in Review
The Journal of the American Dietetic Association’s New in Review section is moving online! New in Review, a monthly Journal of the American Dietetic Association feature bringing dietetics-related abstracts and citations from scientific and professional publications to ADA members, along with reviews of books and Web sites of interest to food and nutrition professionals, will make the jump to the Web in July 2009. July will also mark the last appearance of New in Review in the print Journal, as it will now appear exclusively at www.eatright.org/newinreview.
